Didcot 6/10/2012

Didcot is the place I tried to find a place to live just after the arrival in the UK, and still an every-weekend destination for Polish food. First of all though it is (the town probably woudn't have existed without) - a railway junction, with large and well known railway centre.
There is also a power station ('cloud factory', as there weren't enough of them here...), a landmark in the local landscape. Because that is scheduled to close, its cooling towers are likely to disappear (or morph into nuclear blocks), and the railway line will be electrified, my passion for documenting as well as nice weather motivated me to take some photos:
HST Class 43 left Didcot Parkway on the way to London Paddington, in the background the cooling towers and the power line
Fast service Class 43 from London catches up with Class 166 serving local  London Paddington - Oxford
View from the West (Steventon). On the other side of the bridge I took that picture from, a real  trainspotter arrived. It appeared he was waiting for a special: The Cotswold Venturer, lead by 70013 Oliver Cromwell. That would be pity not to take advantage!
Arriving at Didcot Parkway: a 'small' steamer and the big chimneys.
It was already really dark, so apologies for ISO800 on TZ7.
